memphes on xmas... first we went to beale street, which was totally deserted... karolina jumped out and started shooting all over the place... i was kind of ready to be home... it was xmas... i was in memphis with karolina... why? i was asking myself too many questions... i took a few shots of empty beale street... then we passed by sun studios for a shot... and eventually on to graceland... we didn't want to go in, but just driving by seemed like an interesting idea... i'd been inside twice before anyway, on private tours with my old band... elvis has some tacky interior design choices, to say the least... we snapped some pictures, as car after car of oddities stopped by... one was a family, in a beat up old car, and they took a polaroid in front of the gates with some pharmacy bought polaroid camera... then we saw her... this old woman, maybe 80 years old, by herself, with an elvis purse... she was there by herself on xmas morning... what can you say about that? how can you feel bad about your life after that? i was ready to get on the road again...
