THE DODO or HOW SOME SPECIES DESERVE EXTINCTION

In 1889, Professor Dr. Otto Jürgen von Meissen-Zamenhoff was given a scholarship for the study of the life of the Dodos (Raphus cucullatus) in the Mauritius Islands.

This initial adventure, suitable plot of the novels of the time, turned into a earthly hell, when Dr. Meissen- Zamenhoff discovered the unknown predatory habits of the Dodos.

In opposition to most commonly thought, the Dodos were highly dangerous. In fact, with his unseen horrible teeth, they used to mutilate and kill other animals. And moreover, their progressive annihilation was a desperate try by the settlers, to stop the continuous kidnap and eating of children by the wicked and hideous birds.

This is the first and only Polaroid taken in the whole natural history of the species. In fact, the taken of this photo, cost Dr. Meissen-Zamenhoff the loss of his left arm and part of an ear. The Dodo even tried to eat the pola before developing. Two weeks later, the doctor died as a consequence of the infected wounds and syphilis. 118 years later, this polaroid appeared in a pro-detox flea market in Tenerife.
