Merry eyes and a happy new pear
i swear i'm expressing happiness on the picture.
just, dear jury, understand that it's not easy to find a better model in the morning of the very first day. i couldn't find a friend to take the picture either. so, i took my 250 armoured in a tripod, self timer and a portrait kit (i got myself for Christmas) and took a walk by the Vistula river. my faithful Lomo-the-dog was there too.
i was walking with pear, thinking and talking about the best possible background for the picture and we experienced a bit:
- saw loads of papers and fireworks remains
- and empty bottles,a couple of them wrecked into little pieces
- loads of ice floes in the river passing by slowly
- two shady characters i scared off by my angry look (my dog and tripod might have helped too)
- the two shady characters talking to a guy walking by the river
- an elderly man chasing me
- the elderly man asking me to call the police because the two shady characters asked him to give them his mobile phone ('or you will be swimming in the river')
- calling the police and talking to a sleepy guy
- snow falling gently from the sky on my beret
- deciding to leave the elderly man ('i got this mobile for Christmas, i didn't even have a chance to play with it') and take the shot under the tree (that was the only way i could set the focus - using a branch
- putting all the camera equipment in the bag and see the elderly man leaving the meeting point with the police ('no way they would be coming')
- an officer calling me and asking which side of the river is the elderly man waiting
- chasing (ha!) the elderly man to tell him they're coming
After coming back home i realised i was so close to being robbed. Maybe if i didn't take my camera with me, was not angry seeing this guys, had no dog - it would have happened.
Whichever, i like to think that it was the pear that saved my life. Period.
Happy, happy time to all of you this year.
