Ok, he's not made of wicker and he's a diver, but that was the first thing I thought of when I saw it emerging from the thames as the tide ebbed. Standing in the mud between London's Purfleet landfill site and the massive ford car plant at Dagenham, with just the gulls and oyster cathchers for friends. A truly bleak place, but very beautiful.
