The datasheet I have for 56 doesn't go into much detail, but I'm certain you're right about the chemistry behind it not being the same as in the choco film now that I understand how it works. As an aside, I have to say that the novelty of the choco film, and the buzz about it on the polanoid site, has been baffling me for a while.
^
I just know it uses normal bw developer, but have no idea about the neg or pos used. If I would have one, I eventually could identify, not sure.
yeah, choco wasn't new, but extremely expensive as only available for 8x10. and in fact, it started as an accident before polaroid started to market it. the choco80 is a nice affordable variation (though I don't think it's the best combination of chemicals - but the most tricky, so for marketing reasons sure a good choice ;-)
it's also a waste to use it in the cheap square format cameras. just loaded it in a 110a, it has awesome detail.

hm. but doing choco 4x5 is also not cheap. 2 sheets for one, plus some loss. plus, I guess 59 will get real expensive in future, like sx70...If I'd had spare money right now, I would double my stack with the offer at unsaleable right now. but I don't :-(
but it's just my favourite format, I can't help it.

You do know that Polaroid make (or made) a b&w sepia 4x5 film, type 56, right?
^
yes, but as far as I know it is not the same (though I never had some to compare). sepia is not cross-processing, it gives very unique results (see the quote from the 20x24 polaroid-brochure at my other 4x5 chocos). if 56 indeed is choco, they would have been dumb to not describe it like that. anyway, also this one is - discontinued.... :-((

wow. was für ne geschichte.

This is pretty much entirely unbelievable! I could never recreate what you've done, but I could tell the story many times over to my friends - none of whom would understand! Ah. . .such dedication. . . and the telling of the story is every bit as interesting. Bravo, G! Wow!

Sorry but I think you're waaay past the polanerd-phase. This is much closer to polalunatic ;)
^
oh, even without polaroid, I never denied that...how else should one get close to the edges?
hehe, wait till you see what I have done with the chemistry of your sx-70....just kidding.

lol :-) ... what a great story, reminds me i need to get back in the darkroom to lose a few pounds :-)
^
hehe. Happy I've been able to made some of you have a good laugh.
Using just a darkbag is more effective to loose weight btw - I wished I still had a darkroom yesterday...already to skinny..normally chocolate should help, but..

i'm also very impressed with the whole effort you made. amazing... polaroid company should employ you as an inventor...
^
I don't wanna destroy your dreams, but polaroid is dead. just a papername these days. bancrupt, bought by the petters group and the days of what we combine with polaroid are counted. except some people can make the thing still go on.
I did not invent this - polaroid chocolate is old and started as a mistake, as with the 8x10 you have pos and neg seperate - and someone just mixed them...the problem with the 4x5 was just that it is so picky to do, as the chemistry is stucked to the wrong one :-( at least I do not know anybody who really tried.
but sure, if somebody wants to produce it, I would have no probs finding out the best combination, if I just get supplied with the neccesary medium car load of various sheetfilms :-)
I'll get some choco80 these days, traded some of my sx70 for it - but to be honest, it's a sweet format, but there ain't no good camera you can use it with, which is somehow a shame. So I will adapt a Land for it... ;-)

Soviel dazu.

bzgl. des lindt-hasens? also der hätte bei mir nur ne kurze halbwertszeit...oder der choco-fabrikation? he, ohne meine weltberühmte geduld wär das nie was geworden!

awww ppoooor boy

"Would I recommend it? No. I messed up my darkbag, my holder, lost about 1kg of weight through sweating and crying. And it's fucking expensive if you are going to buy the films to make it, half of it is waste afterwards." awww
so sweet you are :-)
I like it
I am eating Lindt-rabbit from mama right now btw
I would share! :-D

^
sharing chocolate is a big compliment :-))
and, hm, an hour later...I guess I would do it again. hoffnungslos unvernünftig. einfach zu schön.
