ok i think you are right it is definately the battery. there is a guy selling them on ebay for $8.95, the cheapest i have seen. there is also some internet chatter about modifying the compartment and using two 1.5V AA batteries instead of the 532. Has anyone tried this? Thanks for all the help my polanerds.

Well Gulli, I believe that ebay is the best source, you simple have to wait for the right moment. I bought a couple but gave my extras away. Mostly you have to buy a camera with the timer. Might make it more expensive...

lou - best way to get crown graphics are yard sales, antiques, camera shops and of course ebay. IF your back is in the international format, most large cameras would work (btw, 2x3 is not large, but low medium..). if not, you would have to make an adapter (or glue it to the camera). again, old crown would be good, because you can adjust the coupled rangefinder. if it's not 4x5, (600 is about 3x3), you could look for a smaller 3x4 crown for that. as kirk said, they are well useable, cheap (comparing to others) and have nice features. looking forward for the pix of it.

Still waiting to get hold of my SX-70! Been 6 years since I had one last. My SLR680 has been getting all the love since.
COME ON COME ON! Managed to place a successful bid on the bidding frenzy which is ebay. Lets hope it lives up to the description.
